Scenic treasures abound nearby. Iargo Springs is located along the River Road Scenic Byway at the edge of the AuSable River. This site was a holy place for the area's native Chippewa who held powwows here. They believed the water from the springs held curative powers. Even today, a visit to the springs is a mystical experience. An observation tower atop the 200-foot high bluff offers breathtaking views of the river. 294 wooden steps lead down to the springs and an elevated boardwalk along the river's edge from which to enjoy the serenity.

The road received official designation as a National Forest Scenic Byway in 1989 and is the only road in Michigan with this destination.
