Class: SURPRISING STACKABLES
Kit Fee will be: $30.00

Stacked fabric projects let the fabric produce most of the design work while keeping the construction
and sewing process & time required to a minimum.  In my projects, I like to try to create wonderful quilted
items easily & fast, make the fabric do most of the work but not look like shortcuts were taken.

To make this class flow well, I would request that the students purchase kit so everyone will have what they need
to make several sampler stackable projects.  Various techniques taught would be the stacking process,
piecing, pressing, satin stitch appliqué and top-stitching appliqué.  We would be able to make a 4-Patch Stacked Posie
& Supreme table runner (pieced), a Stacked Mariner's Compass block (satin stitch appliqué with NO Y seams!),
Stacked Galaxy block (pieced & satin stitch appliqué) and a very new design called Stackable Frames (top-stitch appliqué).

The kit will include print fabric to do the stacking, background fabrics, sashing fabrics & extra print fabric for outer borders.
Also will include instructions for the class projects, templates & the stabilizer for satin stitching.
Students will bring their own sewing machines, cutting mat, ruler & cutter, thread, irons & iron pads.
Will send a detailed supply list after we make the final decision on the class.

Kit Fee will be: $30.00 -  includes a kit for the class consisting of print fabric, background fabrics, sashing fabrics, extra print fabric for outer borders for 4 projects, instructions, templates and stablizer for the satin stitching. There will be a variety of prints & colors to choose from so we can hopefully make everyone happy.

Meet Mary Lou...
I have been doing some kind of needlecraft and crafts since I was in third grade and learned lots of cool suff when I was in the Girl Scouts.  I learned how to sew on a machine in Jr. High and did quite a bit of garment construction for years. I started quilting about 6 years ago and I'm amazed every day at how God has set so many things into place as I have travelled the adventure into the quilting world as a business.  I'm working way longer hours now than in my previouse job...but what fun it is!  And to be able to meet so many wonderful people has been great.  Before I got into quilting I used to do Counted Cross Stitch all of the time and I made numerous gifts for people with lettering of all kinds.  Once I started to teaching quilting classes about 4 years ago...I thought that there must be a way to do some elegant lettering in quilting as well.  And as a teacher, I'm always trying to come up with new and creative ideas for classes and so the Quilted Letters came to be.  The class then turned into a pattern and the pattern turned into a pattern line and a company and a whole new career for me!  I truly believe in my heart that God has graciously given me the inspirations, talents, abilities and the faith to step out into this new adventure of a lifetime down this quilting path.  There have been so many amazing things happening over the past 3 years that I just know that my heavenly Father has been guiding and leading me a step at a time, day by day.  Sometimes things have looked uncertain as to what would happen next...but He has always worked everything out at just the right time over and over again. And I feel so very blessed to have been able to have the opportunity to do the Simply Quilts show with Alex Anderson. She is truly a wonderful person!

And yes, I'm one of those people who sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night with a new quilting idea in my head, complete with a bunch of the details.  And so I just have to get up and right it all down before I forget!  Kind of like and explosion...BOOM...its all there!    I have a bunch of ideas for new and unique things for quilting that I can hardly wait to get at...but there just isn't enough time in the day.  This is the Quilted Letters turn and the other ideas will just have to be patient. Like Mike always says...it will all work out.  And you know what..he always seems to be right.  I have been so blessed with the most wonderful husband in the world.  He has been so supportive, encouraging and loving over the past 2 years and I could not have done it all without him.  Poor guy thinks I'm crazy sometimes when I get up in the night to try a new idea out or something.  And I sure am thankful that he likes to dine with Mr. BURGER KING  cause I sure haven't spent much time cooking in the kitchen lately.  Maybe I'll make him a real-home-made dinner tomorrow!  He deserves it!

We have four children: Michelle, Nicole, Andy & Reva.   They are all grown up and on their own and we are so very proud of what wonderful individuals they have all become.  We also have 4 grandchildren: Kiah, Tate, Greggory and Cody.   Kiah loves to sew.  The boys have tried the machine out too and they think its fun.
